Summary
Two FBI Special Agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, investigate the paranormal phenomena (unexplained disappearances, ghosts, cryptozoology…) that are impossible to resolve for the “classic” agents. Dana is the skeptical character of the duo who seeks the truth through the prism of her scientific university training. Fox is marked by the kidnapping of his sister, which he witnessed during his childhood, and has a more open mind to the supernatural. While engaging in these investigations, they must both face a conspiracy involving senior officials of the American administration.

Egyptomania narratives or motifs
In “Biogenesis” (S06E22), Fox descends into madness after working on alien artifacts, leading Dana to travel to the Ivory Coast to investigate the origins of this madness. In the next two episodes, called “The Sixth Extinction” (S07E01-02), the action continues. Dana studies a UFO buried in this country: she tries to understand the inscriptions engraved on the spaceship (not hieroglyphic Egyptian, but signs linked to Navajo writing). The texts mix science (nucleotides from the DNA are mentioned) and religion (extracts from the Bible or from the Sumerian world), but progress is difficult since events disrupt her work. Indeed, the water turns into blood and the region is invaded by insects, recalling the ten plagues of Egypt.
