Summary of the film
John Hartley (starred by Dwayne Johnson), an FBI agent tries to prevent an international art thief Nolan Booth (starred by Ryan Reynolds) from stealing one of the bejewelled eggs that had been offered by Mark Antony to Cleopatra as a wedding gift. Although Booth manages to successfully steal the egg, when he returns to his hideout in Bali, he realises that Hartley is already waiting for him. To the surprise of both men, the egg is stolen by a third person, namely Sarah Black, known as The Bishop (starred by Gal Gadot), Booth’s main competitor. Hartley and Booth decide to join their forces to outsmart The Bishop and find the location of all three eggs of Cleopatra.

Egyptomania narratives or motifs
The plot of the film is centred on the fictitious motif of three bejewelled eggs, which were offered by Mark Antony to Cleopatra as a wedding gift. These are being searched for by the main characters, both positive and negative ones. The story of the three eggs of Cleopatra is introduced in the opening scene of the film, using various Egyptian-style decorations, including one based on the reliefs from the temple of Dendera, as well as pictures from excavations in Egypt. Later on, we also find various Egyptian and Egyptianizing artefacts (mostly treasures) as well as depictions of Egyptian priests serving Antony and Cleopatra.
